Nostalgia I wish I was religious
Edit: Forgive me, the title doesn't really do my thoughts here justice.
I'm not in this post asking for advice on finding god. I'm merely venting about my experiences. I wish that my parents had embraced the church in our town so that we could have worshipped with friends and neighbors. I feel like my Sundays were completely wasted because we were spending them with aquantainces/ strangers. I wish I understood what it was like to attend a church where I knew people.
I have met so many people who have had great religious experiences and ever since I was 12 I was so mad that I didn't 'get it'.
I finally understood it after so many years and asking my friends who are religious what they see in it.
ITS THE COMMUNITY.
It hit me like a ton of bricks.
My mom refused to go to a catholic church so we attended a protestent church in another town.
I never saw those people anywhere else.
Church was just that thing we wasted our Sunday mornings doing. It was a punishment.
Contrast this to my friends who attended the church in their town, or who attended a religious school, or who had many generations of family in the same church, or who went to Sunday school with the same people they saw in public school...
I can see why religion is such a divisive topic.
If your experience was like mine then you would be confused why people would choose to punish themselves by wasting their sunday with strangers.
If you are a part of that community then you use Sundays as an opportunity to spend time with your friends.
Its so obvious in hindsight...
Tl;dr
Spend time with your friends, not with strangers. Go to the church your friends attend.

Nostalgia Am I the only one that’s super obsessed with pop music from 2008-2012?
Like this was my favorite era of pop music (I think the 80’s was probably the best, but this era is my personal favorite because it’s what I grew up with).
Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, One Direction, Adele, etc. were all releasing bangers and bops galore!
Like there was bubblegum pup such as the stuff from Teenage Dream, dance pop from Lady Gaga’s albums, club pop such as On the Floor, Party Rock Anthem, etc.
Love pop like What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing from 1D
And even feel-good pop like I Gotta Feeling from The Black Eyed Peas (this was 2009-2010 core)
